The Airport Safety Awards are presented in recognition of exceptional safety contribution by members of the airport community.

Individuals and teams whom exemplify and engender the safety culture within Changi and Seletar airports are awarded based on three broad categories – Safety Awareness & Courageous Act, Innovation & System Thinking, and Safety Promotion & Culture Building.

The key safety message “Safety Takes You Further” – a common vision to cultivate and sustain a strong safety culture is embolden through portraying an aircraft held within the palms of a person, signifying empathy and support amongst the community through the COVID-19 situation.

To adhere strictly to the safe management measures, the Airport Safety Awards events are currently presented via online broadcast with greater outreach and we hope that you would have an enjoyable experience celebrating the winners with us.

Safety remains the linchpin for the community as we stay resilient in the face of the realities. And always remember, Safety Takes You Further.

Santos Richard C
SATS Ltd

On 21 April 2020 at 1526 hours, an arriving cargo flight was assigned to park at stand 308 (based on the aircraft type B73F filed by the airline).

As the aircraft was taxiing into the stand, San Jose observed that the aircraft wing had protruded into the “keep clear zone” and may come into contact with another aircraft that was parked at the adjacent stand if it continued to taxi further. He quickly alerted his colleague, Richard who quickly coordinated the wing walkers to stop the aircraft from proceeding further.

Richard also alerted the tech ramp control centre of the information that the aircraft which had just arrived was a B737-700 and not a B73F (assigned stand only accommodate B737-200 up to 500 series and B737 freighters). The information was then cascaded to CAG master apron and SATS control. The aircraft was promptly re-assigned to the correct stand.
